Most of the human body consists of 78%-80% water. Nothing in the body can occur without water.
We have all heard or most of us have...that drinking plenty of water and staying hydrated is important for health. But did you know that dehydration is possible even when drinking plenty of water? The cells ability to utilize the water you take in is key to proper hydration. That doesn't mean you don't need to consume the proper amounts...more on that later.
Symptoms of Dehydration:
Arthritic Pain • General Amplification of Pain • Impaired Metabolism • Malnourishment • Pain • Lethargy • Headaches • Cellular Degeneration • Poor Coordination • Swelling/Edema

Examples on where water plays and important role in the body
- Nerve transmission. When the body is dehydrated nerve transmissions is compromised and bran function is strongly diminished. Mental illness can be a result of brain cell dehydration. Chronic nerve pain can be a result of chronic dehydration
- Malnourishment. People can be malnourished even with excellent diets. Water must carry nutrients for the bloodstream across the cell wall though osmosis or transportation system. Many nutritional deficiency conditions are often specific dehydration problems
- Muscle Contraction. Water is required for the sodium, potassium and calcium ions that are involved in skeletal muscle contraction and relaxation.
- Free Radicals When the body's tissues are dehydrated, free are radicals are produced. Effective hydration removes fee radicals faster than any other therapy.
- Lung Function Lung Dehydration is considered a significant factor in respiratory diseases.
- Cell Division. Dehydration is a major producer of stress in the body and alters the balance of amino acids.
- Energy Conductor. Water is considered a vital conductor of energy such as meridian energy and other body energy systems.
- Hyperactivity. Hyperactive children are often dehydrated because they are not drinking plain water.
- Lymphatic and immune issues. Dehydration profoundly affects the moment of lymph through the body.
- Rejuvenation of skin. Skin relies on water to help keep it youthful appearance.
The guideline often given for proper hydration is to drink about ten 8 ounce glasses per day. This is a one size fits all approach that isn't ideal. It would be far too much water for a child and nowhere near enough for a large man. The ideal rate is half your body weight in ounces. Increasing the amounts depending on conditions such as heavy sweating etc.
The BodyTalk healthcare system has a hydration specific technique that can provide either improved general hydration to the entire body or can optimize hydration to a specific area of the body including organs and endocrines. This technique can be learned by the lay person in the one day BodyTalk Access Class as well as in The Four day BodyTalk Fundamentals Course
