WHAT THE HECK ARE PRIORITIES...AND HOW IT SETS BODYTALK APART FROM THE REST
"The most important thing is to find out what is the most important thing."
-Zen Master Shunryu Suzuki
As compared to other modalities, a BodyTalk session is an experience unlike any other for a client. The practitioner's table seems familiar enough, but beside it is a colorful poster, outlining a seemingly complicated set of protocols.
For the first-time client, an internal dialogue begins. Why isn’t the practitioner directly addressing the condition for which I came? (I have shoulder pain why in the world is he/she focusing on my liver or circulation of nerves or improved cellular hydration and balancing my brain?) Why the need to complete a detailed Intake Form, asking not only about my health history, but also my life and goals. How does a simple "tap out" make me feel so much better?
The client has a feeling that he or she is not in Kansas anymore.

To help the "beginner" client understand, explaining what sets BodyTalk apart from other treatment modalities is sometimes necessary.
In a client’s first session, after discussing primary health concerns, the BodyTalk practitioner follows a sequencing of techniques based on the client's current state of health to start the healing process. The innate intelligence of the body is consulted consistently during the navigation of a comprehensive protocol chart. This is called working with "priorities" to create custom healing formulas. |
The client's body has an incredible intelligence which a BodyTalk practitioner is trained to communicate with. The body keeps score of all life experiences. When not properly processed...those experiences sit in wait, sometimes for many years only to impact you later...gradually breaking down natural lines of communication in the body, having a cumulative effect of which you are completely unaware. This communication breakdown impacts how the body functions and interferes with it's efficiency (think ignoring numerous blown circuit breakers in your home and the havoc that would wreak).

Imagine for a moment...walking into a cluttered room with stacks of furniture, boxes, piles of papers, folders, dozens of hand written notes, voicemails, messages and bills and checks that you have to organize.
So many different areas that vying for your attention and you have no idea where or how to start to make the most progress. This situation could be very overwhelming! The best approach...prioritize! |
Prioritizing helps to address what is most important at the time. This is exactly what a BodyTalk practitioner works with when dealing with priorities in a session. However, instead of sifting through a desk or table of papers etc...they navigate a Protocol chart of organs, body parts, energies, beliefs, pathogens, emotions and environmental stressors while constantly consulting with the Innate Intelligence of the body via biofeedback to determine whether something is or is not a priority...listening to the answers it gives in response to the questions and applying a sequence of techniques in a very specific order for the client.
What you may think needs to be addressed (example: pain = the child at the door selling cookies wanting your immediate attention) may not be the priority for achieving lasting change, progressive improvements and optimizing efficiency of the body systems.
Early sessions often begin by addressing general imbalances so the body can be better equipped and to free up resources in order for it to better respond to the condition for which the client seeks help. It is important to understand this dynamic.

Many people are hopeful that one or two sessions can address all of their issues, but there may be significant complexity behind the symptoms you experience.
We are only consciously aware of about 5% of what is going on with us. Plus, we are conditioned to respond to pain and symptoms so we pay attention to it/them. When I lecture, I often discuss how "the symptom is not the problem" It's simply an indication that a problem exists. This perspective is why working with priorities and looking beyond the symptom is so very important. It is also what sets The BodyTalk System apart from other therapies. Practitioner's resolve client's symptoms by addressing the symptoms indirectly and supporting systems of the body to free up resources and give efficiency back to the body. When the body is properly supported it holds the power to do a much better job!
So, Dorothy leaving Kansas might just be the greatest experience ever! |
BodyTalk addresses future potential issues while simultaneously peeling away layers of imbalances caused by cumulated life experiences, current stressors and genetic influences
Clients usually begin to experience noticeable improvements within 3-7 Sessions. The intelligent body will determine the pace in which it will self-repair and regulate. This pace varies from person to person based on their treatment goals and the complexity of factors contributing to symptoms or illness. Chronic Illness may take 6+ month commitment for significant lasting improvements.
