The Law of Attraction and Murphy's law. Chances you have heard of at least one of these if not both.
Usually we relate the Law of Attraction to manifesting things in our lives that we wish to have, receive or experience. Vision Boards are especially popular in the New Year. Murphy's law...well that's usually what we call a really bad day. It starts off with one bad thing happening and then before you know it, unfortunate events seem to follow you the entire day. The more bad things happen, the worse your mood gets, the worse your mood gets the more you think about what has occurred already and the more bad things happen. You may be wishing for a do over!
These really are just different labels for the same thing. What we think and give power to ends up having power over us and can trickle into our physical body.
In The BodyTalk System, advanced courses cover Psychology of the body giving a practitioner insights as to why certain parts of the body seize up, are unstable or experience pain.

Are you experiencing tension in your neck? Maybe someone is literally being "a pain in the neck"...hmmm check in with that one next time!
Why does this happen?
Because...your body takes its orders from your mind. Whenever your mind sends out a stress alarm, your body reacts accordingly by pumping out stress hormones stating a chain reaction!
Every thought creates a chain reaction in the body. When thoughts are negative and stressful your wellness takes a hit. (If you’re living with a chronic condition, you may be especially vulnerable to the effects of stress.)
Your body & mind reacts to your stressful thoughts, emotionally and physically. It doesn’t know the difference between big stress and little stress. Perceived, imagined or actual...the stress alarm sounds and your body reacts: Fight! Flight! Freeze! So, if you allow your mind to constantly pump out red alerts, all that stress is going to take a toll on you.

What can you do to shut down the red alert signal?
- First, Take a step back. Breathe. Ask yourself: Is this a catastrophe or am I magnifying a small inconvenience or annoyance and giving it the power to wreck my peace of mind? Did dropping your Chicken Wrap on the floor during lunch really justify your day being ruined?
- Second, Dial it down. Visualize yourself standing in front of a big dial. With whatever is stressing you out, on a scale of 1 to ten, dialed up to a ten. Then consider, where does this stressor fall? You might dial it back to a five, or a two. Or you might decide it doesn’t even merit your mental energy. You can choose to adjust the situation.
- Third. Treat the symptoms. Take calming breaths. Relax those tightening muscles. Stop glaring. Smile! If you have learned the BodyTalk Cortices Technique in a workshop or Access class do it. It will reset the brain and nervous system in a short period of time and take you out of that stress response.
- Fourth Regain your perspective. When you have stressful thoughts, use your rational mind. Ask yourself: “Is this really worth making an issue out of or is it something I can shrug my shoulders over? Am I taking something personally when someone else is just having a bad day or distracted by their own problems? Is this really a major offense or is it a minor glitch in my day?”
- Fifth Stay awake. Awake to your own emotional state – and whether you might be especially vulnerable. Discern where your mental energy needs to go and where it doesn’t. You can’t control your thoughts, but you don’t have to let them control you.
A sense of humor can help here, like smiling at how for a minute or two that dropped chicken wrap sure felt like a stock market crash.
So, repeat: It’s just a chicken wrap...it's just a chicken wrap...and smile. You’re gonna be okay.
